WATER POLO
STANDARD IMPROVED Water polo made further progress during the season recently concluded. The number of players increased to about 250, the playing standard improved, and the game attracted greater public interest. Matches were played regularly each week, the more important in the A and B grade competitions at swimming carnivals in the Tepid Baths. At each carnival the water polo match had to be tho final event on the programme, but it was noticeable that, whereas in previous seasons most of tho spectators left before the water polo began, this season most of them stayed to watch th« play. The senior championship was won by Waiteinata. Although extended at times this team finished the season clearly superior. Tho Mount Eden Club w on tho B grade championship, the increase in the number or teams necessitating the playing of this championship in two sections. The junior grade was won by Ponsonby, and tho Tntcrhouse championship by George Court and Sons, Ltd.
