TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES
RETIREMENT AT 65 YEARS FREE PASSES TO BE RETAINED A policy of retiring employees at the age of 65 is to be put in force by tbe Auckland Transport Board, which adopted recommendations on the subject made to it yesterday by the committee of the whole board. Employees at present aged 68 years and over will be given notice that their services will terminate on September 30, 1934 (the months of July, August and September, 1934, to be given as leave of abf-ence on full pay)*, and they will be allowed to retain their tram passes after retirement. Those reaching the age of 65 years before March 31, 1935, and those at present aged 65, 66 and 67, will be given notice of the termination of their services at March 31, 1935 (the months of January, February and March to be given as leave of absence nn full pa/', and they also will be allowed to retain ~' l, their passes. Thereafter all employees shall be retired at 65, with three months' leave of absence on full pay and the same right to retain passes. The manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, was given power to report to the board on special cases.
