WORKMAN HIT BY BRICK
HEAD INJURIES SUFFERED VICTIM IN HOSPITAL [by telegraph—own correspondent] PALMEKSTON NORTH, Monday An unusual accident occurred during tho operations in connection with the dismantling of the third storey of the Clarendon Building, a workman, Mr. C. Olsen, suffering a severe head injury which necessitated his being admitted to hospital. Bricks from tho dismantled portion of the building were being wheeled in barrows along tho stageway above the second storey, and from there ejected into a chute which brings'them down to the staging from which they are again* despatched by a second chute to lorries standing below in tho courtyard at the rear of the premises. During tho progress of tho transportation of.the bricks one became dislodged from the, barrow, hurtling down into tho courtyard, where .Olsen received its full forco on his head. The severity of the* blow was sufficient to lay the unfortuuate man's scalp open and he bled profusely.
