Mrs. M. Mayston, Cambridge, is at tho Central Hotel. Mrs. S. Dauby, Thames, is spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. Seymour Colbeck, Waiuku, has 1 returned from a holiday spent in Wellington. Mrs. C. Brabant, Dilworth Avenue, Remuera, is spending a holiday at Eketahuua. Miss Margaret Thomson, Christchurch, will arrive in Auckland this week, where she will in future reside. Mrs. D. A. White, of Victoria Valley, North Auckland, is staying with her sister, Mrs. M. E. Riggs, of Remuera. Mrs. E. W. Sharp, Devonport, and Mrs. F. Pearson, Mount Eden, have left on a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs. A. Masefield, Auckland, Mrs. T. B. Chapman, Wellington, and Miss W. Patterson, Christehureh, are at the Station Hotel. Miss F. I. Gilfillan, of Birkenhead, has been appointed teacher of the Northcote Public Kindergarten and began her work yesterday. Mrs. Mervyn Reed, Garden Road, Remuera, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Grey Colbeck, Christehureh, will return home this morning. Miss Joyce Herdman is staying in Wellington with Miss Alison Pearce. They leave on Thursday by the Mataroa for a trip round the South Island ports. Miss Mary Pratt, the Dunedin contralto, who was advised by John Brownlee to go abroad, left on Friday for Australia with a view to accepting several important concert engagements. Her Paris visit (in order tq continue studies) is in abeyance in tho meantime. A social gathering was held in the Druids' Hall recently by the Thames Girls' Club, Sirs. Hubber (president) presiding. A programme of songs, instrumental items and recitations was enjoyed, the following contributing items: —The Glee Club, Mr. Rees, Master Irwin Taylor, Mr. P. Dowries (Thames), Miss Povnton, Miss Nola Howe, Miss Joyce Benjamin, Miss Valerie Miller, and a number of children, who danced a ballet. Supper brought the evening to a close. A social evening and prize presentation was held in the Mount Albert Bowling Club's pavilion on Saturday by the Mount Albert Bowling Club. A good programme was provided by Miss Warren, Mr. Fogarty, Mr. Biddick, Mr. Webster and Mr. Dawson. The prizes won during the season were presented by the president, Mr. Humphreys, assisted by Mrs. Humphreys. Supper was served by Mrs. Humphreys and her helpers, after which a dance programme was carried out. Cards were also played on the balcony. Mrs. L. C. H. Dawson was the pianiste. Beavis, Miss Pickens, Miss Fogarty and Miss Warren.
