Jones Nevis (Otago).—A wash-up of 2780z. is reported prior to the claim being closed for the season. This represents sluicing operations since the company took over the claim at the end of November, 1933. Nevis Diesel (Otago).—7oz. sdwt. for four days' dredging. The dredge is now benched for the winter. NEVIS DIESEL FINANCES The secretary of the Nevis Diesel Electric Dredging Company, Limited (Otago), reports that at the commencement of operations on March 12 tho dredge was working through tailings, but has recently been on solid ground of a drifty nature containing little cold. The dredge was at first working a depth of 20ft. and worked down to 40ft. In view of tho low returns tho dredgemaster was instructed to narrow ■ his cut and reduce the depth to 20ft. and work toward Begg's No. 3 bore. The estimates of expenditure in the prospectus were exceeded, with the result that the financial position became straitened. To relieve the situation tho directors guaranteed the bank account for £2OOO. Subsequently the dredgemaster was instructed to bench the dredge and commence boring. In view of the financial position the directors decided to issue debentures to the extent of £SOOO, and the greater part of this sum will be applied to close-boring the claim. The first annual meeting will be held in about six weeks' time. GOLDFIELDS DREDGE The Goldfields Dredging Company, Limited (Shotover River, Queenstown), reports that the dredge is now working its way up tho gorge. The power line poles have been extended to Big Beach. A 10-inch gravel pump has been installed on the dredge to work in conjunction with it in lifting gravel and by passing it behind the dredge. GLENROY GOLD MANAGER Mr. A. C. Buckland has been appointed mine manager for Glenroy Gold, Limited (West Coast). It is expected that most of the preliminary work at the claim will be completed toward the end of June. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Golconda (Thames).- —In the drive on the main reef we have crosscut into the right-hand wall, but have not yet picked up the reef. The country rock is of the best description, carrying very lively mineral in the seams. It is a fairly big break that displaced the reef and we may have to crosscut in both walls to pick up the reef. The crosscut is out 12ft. and several silica seams have been cut and it is proper reefing country. Tho approximate distance from here to tho slide is 70ft. The hangingwall was advanced Bft., total 71ft. We have bored into a reef formation 4ft. Tho reef is heavily mineralised and is dipping about two in one and running at a fairly long angle to the crosscut. , . Dawn of Hopo (Thames) .—The drive going hillward on the hangingwall dropper of the Golden Ago reef was advanced a further 4ft. In the last break-ing-down a little gold was seen in tho ore broken, the leader having split in two parts with 12in. of mullock between. As the drive advances hillward we are anticipating these leaders will again come together and make a solid body.
