I OFFICER'S APPOINTMENT | • TRANSFER TO LONDON ! Notice of transfer to. London, as representative of the New Zealand Government Tourist Department, attached to.the High Commissioner's office, has been received Sv Mr. G. 1 D. Lishman, head clerk in the department's office in 'Auckland. He will leave for England by the'Tainui on May' 30. Mr. Lishman• joined the department in Wellington in' 1921, and subsequontly was' transferredto the Christchurch office. After similar work in Dunedin and Invercargill, ho was transferred to the High Commissioner's office in London in 1929, returning to the Dominion in 1931, when he; was appointed to the Auckland tourist office.

The transfer of Mr. Lishman to London follows the recommendations made ;,by the High Commissioner, Sir James Parr, at an Auckland Travel Club luncheon last November, prior to his departure for London. Stressing the potential value of tounst traffic in the Dominion, Sir James said that if he icould. persuade the Tourist Department jto send one of its'young and energetic •men'to'London to get about and make 'contacts with the" right companies and jassociations, he "was sure the officer appointed would earn his salary ten 'times, over. r - . • ■ : The Vacancy in the Aurkland office ,caused by Mr. Lishman's transfer will be filled by Jlr. A. G. Hill, of thfe [Dunedin • office. Mr. Hill joined- the 'Tourist Department in Wellington, and, has been on the staff of the' aitomo and Kotorua offices. He was transferred to Dunedin five years ago.
