COURSING

AUCKLAND CLUB'S STAKES

Tho second division of tho first maiden stakes of the Auckland Coursing Club was run off at the Enclosure. Mangore Crossing, on Saturday. When tho entries closed for the first meeting held tho previous week several dogs were unable to compete as the event was limited to 1G dogs. Those dogs unsuccessful in the draw for the first meeting were given an opportunity to show their mettle in a second meeting on Saturday. In spite of tho fairly heavy going tho coursing was of a high standard and _ the meeting was conducted without a hitch. During the day there was not a single undecided course or no-course, the slipping being well handled. Mr. R. Martin was judge. The stake was won by Mr. 11. C. Ellison's Silver Peak, which defeated Air. N. Allan's Heather Mixture in the final by six points to one. Tho outstanding course of the day was contested by Mr. J. Robinson's Camera and Mr. S.
