Several hundred unemployed gathered at the corner of Quay and Albert Streets on Saturday morning with the intention of proceeding to tho Town Hall, but that object was abandoned after the police suggested that no parado should bo held. Tho leaders of tho men eventually walked along Fanshawe Street to Victoria Park, accompanied by a. fair number of unemployed, and Mr. S. The unemployed subsequently met at the Trades Hall, where there was a discussion on the conditions of employment of relief workers. It was agreed that a committee should seek an interview with tho Minister of Employment, the Hon. A. Hamilton, during his visit to Auckland, and also tho Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison. Tho assemblies of the men on Saturday were watched by Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, commissioner of police, and there was a considorablo forco of polico on duty throughout the city.
