JUBILEE OF ELTHAM
PIONEERING AND PROGRESS The town of Kltl.ain reached the /30th anniversary of its establishment on Sunday. Tho occasion in being marked by a week's celebrations. It is a long time from May, 1881, and the intervening years have seen much pioneering work throughout the; district surrounding what has in that time been built 11 [> into one of the best towns of its size in the Dominion. From an extensive sawmilling district the country has been developed into one of the richest of the dairying districts of Taranaki, and with that development there has come tho establishment and growth of an important commercial centre. Eltham became a borough in October, 1901.
