LONDON CONFERENCE
PRICE SCHEME DEADLOCK ARGENTINA'S ATTITUDE (Received May 13, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 12 The conference of i,he Wheat Advisory Committee ended with the announcement that with one exception the Governments of the exporting countries had approved a minimum price plan. Failure to obtain unanimity, however, made reconsideration necessary because a good deal of the plan was based on the maintenance of prices in all exporting countries equivalent to the c.i.f. minima. Non-acceptance by the Argentine brought about an impasse. A message from Buenos Aires states that the price scheme, according to the Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, broke down because the big exporting countries tried to fix minimum prices instead of redncing acreage, as originally planned. Since Argentina did not know of the secret instructions competing countries had sent to their delegates in London, Argentina necessarily continued to stand for acreage reduction.
