FIRST SOCIAL EVENING Tho Athenian Club opened its winter season on Saturday evening with an entertainment held in the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall in Grafton Road. The president, Mr. C. MunroeEmamiel. and Mrs. Munroe-Emanuel received the guests. Assisting the host and hostess (Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel) was the committee comprising Mrs. Guy, Mrs. W. Wright, Miss Kirkby, Miss Hazel Rainey, Mr. Dawes and Mr. Smith. The programme, which included instrumental and vocal numbers, was provided by Miss Winifred Hill, Miss Beryl Woods, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Paul Hayes, Mr. Duncan Black, Mr. Stark, Mr. L. Harvev. Among those present were Mrs. H. Gilmour, Mrs. Harry Waterfield, Mrs. Harry Clark, Mrs. Charles Anderson, Mrs. A. Don. Mrs. J. Dean, Mrs. W. Curtis, Mrs. W. Deverson, Mrs. G. Allcock, Mrs. H.
