WOMEN'S DIVISION
Bay of Plenty.—The annual meeting of tho Thames Valley provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held recently, Mrs. Drinkwater (president) presiding over a large attendance of delegates and friends. It was reported that during the last month two senior and one junior branch had boon formed by Mrs. Drinkwater. The president's report stated that the provincial executive had started with six branches last year, and to-day there were twelve senior and two junior branches affiliated with tho Thames Valley Provincial Executive. Three housekeepers had been engaged and had given every satisfaction. Branches responded to an appeal for clothing for a needy family many comfortable garments being handed in. The followii officers were elected for the coming year:—President, Mrs. Drinkwater (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Greenwoou * (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Hare, Donovan and McLean; committee, Mesdames Hare, Donovan, McLean, Barton, C. Hayward, Watt, Thilton, Evans, Storey, Burns, Norcott and Miss McCormack; junior branch, Misses Barribal and Stewart; housekeeping secretary, Mrs. Drinkwater; delegate to Dominion conference, Mrs. Drinkwater; advisory members, Mesdames Hanson, Stewart and Cleave. The Te Aroha delegates were hostesses for tho day. Te Kuiti. —The Northern King Country Provincial Council held its annual meeting recently. It was evident from the reports given by the presidents of the eight surrounding branches that much good work had been done among the country women and children and that there was a spirit of co-operation and goodfellowship among tho many members. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. C. K. Wilson; vice-presidents, Mesdames Irvine, Gadsby, W. A. Lee, Riddle; secretary, Miss McKenzie; committee, Mesdames Cullen, Sutherland, Christie and Snowden; delegate to conference, Mrs. Miln; press correspondent, Mrs. Jack Mason. Branch remits were discussed and many were passed for submission to the annual conference to bo held in July in Wellington. After the completion of the business a demonstration of basket-making was given by Mrs. Cameron, of Rangitoto. Luncheon was provided by the members, the Awakino Road ladies being hostesses for the day.
