ROAD RACES IN AUCKLAND BROWN'S GOOD PERFORMANCE,: Good weather conditions prevailed on Saturday when the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club held the fourth of its series of winter road races at Avondale South. A cool southerly wind slowed the riders on the hill sec-, tion at the back of the triangular course - and, consequently, times were well outsider tile course record for both events.- Fortyfive members competed. The junior event of JO miles, four laps, attracted nine starters. The scratch pair, (i. AY Holland" and C. T. Dwight, gave J. E. Macdonald, the limit junior, -tin 30d start. In a fast and close finish Brumby went into tile lead and won by three lengths from Tucker, with Moxon a similar distaiico back. The sprint between the two -scratch. riders was an exciting one and Holland surprised many when he led Dwight across the lino by two lengths to gain fastest time. The placed juniors were:—A. In an-, other sprinting finish Dwight won by four lengths, with Brown half a length ahead of Howo Morris headed a group of five riders to finish fourth, lm "s after the winner.
