MORE SURPRISES RECORDED ONLY ONE FAVOURITE WINS TOTALISATOR INCREASE Fine weather favoured the conclusion of the "Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter Meeting on Saturday and there was a good attendance. The course was in splendid order and the racing was again very interesting. Moneygran, in the first race, was the only favourite to score and the dividends were again of cood proportions, Matorni returning the best price of the day when he scored in the No. 1 Champion Hack Plate. The Wanganui Steeplechase was decisively won by Riotous, who gave a fine exhibition of fencing. The Connolly Handicap was annexed by Copper Kins:, who finished splendidly to defeat the favourite Takakua. The totalisator handled £112,901 10s for eight races, compared with £983.8 10s for seven races on the second day last year, and increase of £3063. The investments for the meeting amounted to £21,796, compared with £18,45-1 last year, an increase of £3312. Results: —

TE RAPA TRACK WORK TRADESMAN SPRINTS WELL With the near approach of the Te Ivuiti Racing Club's meeting there is increasing activity on the tracks at Te Rapa and some interesting work was performed on Saturday, when the No. 1 grass and the No. 2 grass wore available for. galloping. On the No. 2 grass Curlew defeated Campanero and Cordon over four furlongs in 53 1-sr. Curlew has a nice turn of speed. Tradesman was slightly hotter than Limex over fivo furlongs in 1.3. King Rey and Joyzello placed half a milo behind in 51 2-ss, Riicetto and Etcetera running the same distance in 535. Mia Stella was belter than Miss Rewa ovor a round in 1.54 1-5, the last six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Sunny Downs nnd Calcutta covered four furlongs in 52 2-ss. Phioktio covered seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5, the last six in 1.20. On the No. 1 grass Royal Artist and Prince of Orange completed strong work with six furlongs in 1.22.
