PIG-SHOOTING FATALITY
BULLET WOUND IN TEMPLE DEATH OF YOUNG MAN [by telegraph —OWN* correspondent] INVERCARGILL, Sunday While mustering cattle with two companions -in some bush country out of Drummond yesterday, Mr. Edgar Thomas Whyte, aged 20, of Drummond, was fatally shot. In the hope of being able to do a little pig-shooting as well, Whyte had taken a rifle with him. As they were passing through some bush country, his companions heard the report from the rifle, and were horrified to find that he had been shot through the temple. It is surmised that the trigger of his rifle became caught in some undergrowth. The injured man was taken to Utautau and after receiving medical attention was ordered to the Riverton Hospital, but he died before arrival.
