OPENING OF GRANDSTAND KICK-OUT AFTER FORCE APPEAL AGAINST SUSPENSION The opening of the now grandstand at Carlaw Park next Saturday was referred "to by Mr. G. Grey Campbell, chairman, at last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League. He said arrangements were, well in hand and that the Governor-Genera!, Lord Bledisloe, would perform the opening ceremony at 2.4/5 p.m. The early senior matches would commence' punctually at 1.13U p.m., and cease at 2.45 p.m. There would be no play during the opening ceremony. After considerable correspondence hud been read from the Referees' Association it was decided to introduce the kick-out frotn tho goal-lino after a force-down at tlio> commencement of the second round. Tho insurance committee reported that Blacklaws and Sellars, of the Newton senior team, were still in tho Auckland Hospital. Both cases would be prolonged but the players were to be covered by insurance. The appeal of the New,ton Club against the suspension of C. Allen was dismissed. Further evidence was taken in committee. The suspension is for two playing Saturdays. The club gave formal notice of an appeal to tho New Zealand Council. lyir. Campbell said negotiations wore still in progress with reference to the broadcasting of matches from Carlaw Park. No further action would bo taken in the meantime. Air. J. Rukutai reported a successful visit to Tuftkau last week-end. A match had been played and theJo wore good prospects of the code being firmly established in the Franklin district.
