SEAMEN DROWNED

VESSEL STRIKES BAR COLUMBIA RIVER ACCIDENT NEW YORK, May 4 A-,.message from Astoria, Oregon, states that three seamen were drowned and 'a fourth was killed on the Norwegian motor ship Childar, which struck the bar at the mouth of the Columbia River to-day.

The masts and upper works wero swept away. The ship later was picked up by a United States coastguard vessel, and is being towed into port.

Tho Childar was laden with lumber from British Columbian. ports and was bound for South Africa.
