TENNIS CLUBS' DANCE

PIRATE SHIP FUNCTION The annual prize-giving and dance of the Devon port Private Tennis Clubs' Association, held at the Pirate Ship at Milford 011 Saturday, was attended by a very large number of members and their friends. On arrival the guests were received by the chairman, Mr. H. H. Osmcrs, and Mrs. Osmers, who acted as hostess, tho latter wearing a frock of cherry and cream pen-printed organdie with godcts and reliefs in the plain material.

The cups and trophies won during the season were displayed on a tablo and later in the evening Mr. Osmers introduced the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, who presented them to the winners. Mr. Alec Harris. M.P., was among those present. Supper was set out on the upper deck, where the tables wero attractively decorated in tho club colours, intermingled with chrysanthemums, cactus dahlias and asparagus fern. Tho ladies' committee comprised:— Mrs E. Svcnson, who wore a frock of wine shaded satin beauto; Mrs. AV. Tyson, black georgette; Mrs. Jt. E. Frater, wine georgette and black and gold wrap; Mrs. S. Burke, white satin; Miss Agate, turquoise and cold embossed georgette; Miss G. Smith, powder blue georgette; Miss J. Catchpolc, Venetian blue crepe faille; Miss Waters, black windswept satin. Among those present were; —Mrs. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayoress of Devonport, who wore black georgette with furtrimmed wrap; Mrs. C. Farquharson, black georgette with autumn tinted relief; Mrs. D. Patterson, old rose crepe; Mrs. J. Gray, black georgette; Mrs. Paul Thompson, maize gold georgette; Mrs. H. Downing, champagne embossed taffeta; Mrs. Aubin. flowered pink organdie; Mrs. J. Williams, black souple satin; Mrs. A. Palmer, white georgette; Mrs. E. Hamilton, cedar rose crinkled crepe; Mrs. W. Best, black ring velvet; Mrs. R. Doblc. pink chenille velvet; Mrs. H. Harper, black taffeta; Mrs. R. P. Kitchingman, pink and black figured crcpo do chine; Mrs. G. Brooke, black marocain; Mrs. K. Kewish, tango crepe do chine and beige lace. Miss R. Jones wore phlox pink lace and satin; Miss Bell, cream satin and diamante; Miss 1. Harris, cherry crepe dc chino and diamante trimming; Miss Joy Verran, pink lace with green relief; Miss Sybil Kitchineman, lime taffeta and velvet coatee; Miss Olive Clist, powder pink crepe de chine; Miss Ola Clarke, pink and black satin and crepe; Miss Vera Hillier. carnation red georgette with black; Miss Andrew, black and multi-csloured polka dotted georgette; Miss E.
