WINTER COMPETITIONS The 10th annual aeries of winter competitions of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was commenced on Saturday afternoon in. the Outer Domain, in the presence of a good attendance. The. members were welcomed by the president, Mr. W. Morton, who presented a gold medal, donated by Mr. W. H. Brien, to .T. W. Savidan, in recognition of his recent recordbreaking performance over three miles. The 2000 yards steeplechase drew a good field. A. G. Hill winning by a narrow margin from D. Mitchell. The 75 yards was also keenly contested in three heats and a. final, which was won by J. Dunn, with R. H. Pow second. The discus throwing was won by A. Sutton, 127 ft. lOin. O. D. Mills. 34ft.. won the shot putting. Following are the results : 75Yds. —First hent: R. H. Pow, 1; J. Prendergnst, 2: H. S. Roper, 3. Time, 8 l-ss. Second heat: IT. McNicl, 1; L. N. Ross, 2; J.
