THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE BUSY MORNING CALL Fairly business was conv pletcd at the single call on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday. A strong tone was maintained in the market for Government loans, further advances in offers being made. The 15)40 4 per cent stock sold unchanged at £lO4 10s and tho 1946 issue 5s higher at £lO4 ss. A transaction in Bank of New Zeala'nds 3d higher at 50s 9d was accompanied by higher quotations. New South Wales were placed at £33 2s 6d, a rise of 2s 6d. levels in the insurance group were steady. Trading was restricted to Queenslands. which were, done Is higher at 695. In the general sections, Auckland Gas were taken at 25s 5d after earlier dealing unchanged at 25s 4d. Taupiri Coal rose sharply, selling Is dearer at 16s. A sale in Northern Steamship at 6s recorded a loss of Sd. ' Bidding for Waihi mining was a shade firmer, but no business took place. Talisman Dubbos were again done at the advanced price of 13s Gd.

EMBARGO ON POTATOES
NEGOTIATIONS PROCEEDING In replv to an inquiry, Mr., Clyde Carr,'M.P. for Timaru, has been advised by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. R. Masters, that Government was still negotiating jrith the Australian authorities regarding the removal of the embargo on New Zealand potatoes. Hopes were entertained of obtaining a modification of the embargo, but no definite announcement was possible at present.
