Mr. G. K. Howard, general manager of the General Motors Export Company of New York, left by the Monterey on Saturday after a business visit to Australia and New Zealand. He was accompanied by Mrs. Howard.

Mr. Samuel Hordern. son of Sir Samuel Hordern, and Mrs. Hordern, formerly Miss June Baillieu, who were recently married in Melbourne, were through passengers by the Monterey l from Sydney on Saturday.

Sir Thomas Bilbe-Robinson. of London, a director of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, arrived by tha Monterey on Saturday on a brief visit to New Zealand. He is accompanied by Lady Bilbe-Robinson, and' they were met" by their son, Mr. A. Bilbe-Robin-son, of Wellington. They are at the Grand Hotel.

Mr. F. H. Pen-in, manager for India for the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, arrived by the Monterey on Saturday on a two weeks' holiday visit to New Zealand. After leaving the Dominion he will spend a period in Australia before returning to India. Be is accompanied by Mrs. Perrin and they are at the Station Hotel.

Dr. J. S Watt, a 1931 New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, who recently returned from England, left for Palmerston North by the limited express last evening to take up the position of lecturer in soil chemistry at Massey Agricultural College. For three years he was a student at Oxford University, where he last year gained the degree of doctor of philosophy. In 1929 he graduated B.Sc. at Auckland University College, and the following year sf.Sc. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Watt, of Remuera, and is an old boy of the Auckland Grammar School.
