TOO MUCH STIMULANT
CHARGE OF DRUNKENNESS / RETIRED VICE-ADMIRAL / j (Received April 22, 6.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 21 Vice-Admiral Gordon Campbell (retired) pleaded guilty and was fined 10s 6d and costs in the Westminster Police Court to-day On a charge of being incapably drunk. The police gave evidence that defendant was found lying on a pavement in Knightsbridgc,early in the morning. Defendant's solicitor said his client had a sudden heart-attack, for which* he had to take stimulants. Vice-Admiral Campbell defeated Mr. / Arthur Henderson at the general election in 1931. 1
Vice-Admiral Gordon Campbell, -who was born in 1886, lias been National member of the House of Commons for Burnley since ,1931. He served in the / Great War find won the Victoria Cross and other orders. He commanded the battle-cruiser Tiger, 1925-27, and served as naval A.D.C. to the JanuaryApril, 1928, in/which year he was placed % on the retired list.
