ATTACKED BY BULL
ELDERLY FARMER'S DEATH COMMENTS BY CORONER [BY TELEGRArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Saturday "This goes to show that no person should ever trust a Jersey bull, no matter what its previous disposition or conduct may have been,"- said Mr. George Ebbett, coroner, at the inquest at Hastings this morning into the death of the elderly farmer, Mr. John Irwin,, as the result of being gored by a Jersey bull. Deceased was attacked while repairing a fence in a paddock on his property. The bull inflicted severe injuries to his chest and one lung.
The evidence showed that the bull, which inflicted fatal injuries, had been reared as a pet, that it allowed children to play with it and had never previously showed any sign of being dangerous. After giving his verdict the coroner added:—"l suggest the advisability of people in the country, especially where children are concerned, being warned against the danger of giving a Jersey bull a chance. I knew deceased and know that he had been familiar all his life with the handling of cattle.!'
