WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
Reports of institute meetings arc as follows: — Karapiro.—At the annual meeting Mrs. Robson spoke on the aims and objects of the Women's Institute and Miss Berry gave a travel talk on Rhodesia. She also demonstrated the making of pine-needle baskets. Nawton Rotokauri. —A detailed report on the year's work, a gratifying feature of which has been a number of useful and interesting demonstrations, was given by the secretary. The bal-ance-sheet showed finance to be in a satisfactory condition. A demonstration of floral work was given by Mrs. Crawshaw.
Ohaupo.—The points prize for competitions won during the year was won by Mrs. Wicks. A small presentation was made to Mrs. Sim, who is leaving the district. Mrs. Fletcher was reelected president. Roto-o-rangi.—At the annual meeting Mrs. Shale was re-elected president. The report revealed remarkablo progress and the balance-sheet showed a satisfactory position. The points prizo for the year was won by Mrs. Cooper. Mrs. R. Martin gave an excellent reading of "Warranted Unbreakable" and Mrs. Cooper read an article on "Responsibility." Ngararatunua-Matarau.—Those holding office last year wore re-elected. Mrs. A. 0. Brown gare an address on institute activities.
