BUILDING IN SYDNEY
PROSPECTS OF REVIVAL IMPORTANT' UNDERTAKINGS There is a lively hope that much building will be in hand in Sydney before the first half of the year ends, • says a correspondent. Macquarie Street attracts most attention. The possibility of building a new Parliament House may be converted into a certainty. St. Stephen's Church is approaching completion and St. Andrew's Cathedral may be begun. Thisi last work is by no means'certain, because there is a strong opinion opposed to the removal of the cathedral from the original site. There are more than a few in the Church of England who object to the acceptance of money from the State for the building of a new cathedral. The argument in favour of a grant is that thp Government has encroached upon the site of the cathedral in George Street, and that therefore it should make compensation. Opposition to a grant, however, has been expressed by representatives of other Churches as well as by members of the Anglican Communion. Archbishop Mowll has not yet been able to give the subject full consideration.-
