WOMAN BANKRUPT
NOMINAL SURPLUS SHOWN [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday A meeting of creditors of the bankrupt estate of Louisa Jane Maine was held to-day before the official assignee, Mr. A. L. Tresiddcr. Tho schedule showed assets, £254, and liabilities, £2ll, leaving a nominal surplus of £43. In a statement, bankrupt said she commenced in business in Whangarei as a boot and shoe maker in 1932 with a capital of £219. Last year, however, her husband's health broke down and the depression caused trade to fall away. These two factors, she considered, were responsible for her failure. Mr. Tresiddor said the books were kept in a. proper manner, and there had been 110 extravagance. It was decided to endeavour to sell the stock and business as a eoing concern, and urged that bankrupt's discharge be facilitated.
