NEW MARKETS
Sir, —The Auckland Chamber of Commerce is 'writing letters to all control boards asking them to appoint trade counsellors to develop our trade in the Far East and elsewhere, the Pukekohe Chamber is recommending to urge the Government to test the markets in the Far East for dairy produce, the Associated Chambers in Wellington are setting up a committee to investigate and collect information about the trado with the Far East, and even the highly mysterious recommendations of the dairy conference contain an urgent appeal to seek new markets in the Far East and elsewhere. Obviously the idea is taking now a definite shape in the minds of those who rule our destiny. It is therefore most essential to secure planned co-operation between the various bodies, departments and persons interested in the 'opening up of new markets. Now, we come back again to the point from which we started three years ago, and now our duty is not to repeat mistakes of the past. The problem of new markets must be solved speedily and practically. Granted it is a national question, in the absence of any private initiative in New Zealand, a Trade Assistance and Expansion Council or Board, assimilating opinions and movements, might be established and necessary funds made available to enable us ,to ship our cargoes to new destinations at once.. Alexander S. Tetzner.. Patumahoe. J
