HOSPITALS AND NOISE
BLUE LIGHTS PROPOSAL WARNING TO TRAFFIC * • i - Hospital authorities in Christchurch support the Dunedin proposal to hava blue Tights installed outside public and private hospitals, with the idea of persuading motorists to avoid traffic noise as much as possible. But at the sam<» time there is very little evidence that traffic noise has become a serious annoyance generally. Complaints have been made from tirrte to time to the authorities by patients at one private hospital in Christchurch, who have alleged that they have been annoyed by noisy motor-bicycles particularly, and it is understood that those controlling the hospital favour the suggestion from Dunedin that the lights should be installed wherever necessary. The hospital is fairly close to the road.
