INTOXICATION CHARGE
PROSECUTION DISMISSED "The police case seems to me to be very thin," said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday, when a farmer, Alexander Black, aged 43 (Mr. Dickson), was charged with being in /a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car in Quay Street on Friday afternoon. A plea of cot guilty was entered. Evidence was given by a traffic officer who was on point duty at the junction of Queen and Quay Streets that accused passed the stop signal. Witness spoke to accused, and conBidered that he was under the influence of liquor" Witness admitted to counsel that accused, who stopped - his car efficiently, did not proceed past tho point. After other evidence was called bv the police', Dr. William Horton, of St. Heliers, who examined accused at the watch-house, gave evidence that he had known accused oyer a period of years. While accused admitted having had several drinks, he walked straight (then submitted to a test. His speech ,na's coherent, and he gave a detailed(ictount of what he had done during lhs afternoon. The' case was dismissed, the magistrate remarking that there had boen no, complaint against accused's manner of rdriving.
