JUNIOR DEFEATS PERRY CHAMPION below form THE SEASON'S PROSPECTS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyricht (Received April 22, ,5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 21 In the inter-county hard court tennis championship at South port C. Hare (Warwickshire) defeated F. J. Ferry, 6—3, 'O—(3, 6—3.
In the second round H. K. Lee defeated Hare, 7 —5, 11 —0. Hare, Mho is 18 years old, has shown outstanding form in early tournaments. He was, junior champion in 1931, and will train this coming season with the ~liavis Cup players.
This was Perry's first competitive appearance since his return from Australia.
]\!r. Stanley Doust, writing in tho Daily/Mail, says Hare found Perry far hclow form. When ho realised that Perry lacked his usual control he proceeded to outgeneral his opponent and defeat him. There was no symptom of Perry's real form. He, like Miss Bound, had just returned from a sea voyago. Perry is su'iferins from slackness. In spite of the fact that champions of 25 nations will be competing Mr. Doust does not think it unreasonable to anticipate that England will win the men's and women's championships, also the Davis and Wight-man Cups, as Perry has not lost a five-set match since last year at Wimbledon. Acting under a doctor's orders Austin will not play at Bournemouth. Perry will partner Hare.
Senorita do Alvarez intends to attempt to regain form after two years' absence from Wimbledon owing to illness! She says she is now a "respectable old lady of 28" and it may bo difficult to regain her form. In the semi-finals of the Mel bury hard court championship Mrs. King boat Miss 1). E.
