LOSS IN CHRISTCHURCH DEFICIENCY OF £19,026 A deficiency of £19,026 ifc shown by the revenue account of the Christchurch Tramway Board for the year ended March 31. The Works and Traffic Committee reported at a meeting of the board last Monday that the earnings of the trams and trolley buses during the year totalled £174,-522, and operating expenses came to £124,560, leaving a balance of £-19,962. From this sum, a deficiency of £5171 from previous vears was deducted, less a proposed transfer of £2550 from the reserve fund, leaving a balance of £47,041. Commitments for interest (£40,581), sinking fund (£1857), and renewals (£18,629), totalled £66,067, resulting in a deficiency of £19,026. The petrol 'buses account showed a deficiency of £952. Earnings amounted to £4781, and operating expenses £'lß2l. Provision for interest and sinking fund totalled £912.
