THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE ACTIVE BUYING INTEREST / " Active buying interest developed on ihe Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and there was a larger turnover, particularly in mining and industrials. More sellers were operating in Government Joans, but their limits were firm. A general rise in offers of from 5s to 12s 6d was ineffective, no business boine recorded. A parcel of Auckland Harbour Board, 1 1939, oi per cent debentures sold at £lO3 10s. a rise of £2 5s on business in June, 1933, while Mount. Albert Borough, 1963. 5£ per cent debentures changed hands at £9B 10s, a gain of £1 10s over nine months. There were no marked chances in banks. New Zealands were taken unchanged at 4Ss Gd and Unions Is lower at £lO 2s ; The high levels established in New Zealand and South British Insurance were maintained on sale, although bidding for the lastnamed was a shade easier. In the general sections New Zealand Breweries were released twice at 41s 3d, a ri.s." of Gd, and Auckland Gas changed hands 3d dearer at 25s 3d. A loss of 9-i was shown by New Zealand Newspapers on a transaction at 28s 3d, and Gear Meat dropped 3d to sell at 275. Although a lot of Waihi mining was accepted Id higher at 35s 3d, later supplies at 35s could not be placed. After a quiet interval, Blackwaters told at 325, a reduction of 3s.
