FREEZING WORKS ACTIVE
POVERTY BAY DISTRICT FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS [by tkijKorapii—own cohhespondknt] GISBORNE, Friday It is expected that the present month will be a good one for the freezing works. Conditions have been suitable lately for the fattening: of sheep and lambs, and fairly largo numbers have been arriving at the works, making it one of the busiest Aprils of recent years, and helping to make up something of what was lost earlier in the season through unfavourable weather. Pig killings have passed last season's record, and to date about 7000 pigs have been killed. It is expected that approximately 10,000 will have been handled by the end of the season.
