THAMES LANDING GROUND USING PARAWAI SITE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES. Friday A conference of local bodies was held to-day to consider the proposed construction of an aerodrome at Thames. The Mayor, Mr. S. Ensor, presided. T|ie site selected is an area of 109 acres at Parawai, a mile from the town, and the A[avor announced that the Harbour Board and the Borough Council were prepared to make the land available for the purpose. There was now an opportunity to use relief labour, and a scheme was being prepared . After disoussion it was decided that an aerodrome be provided for the Thames district on the site suggested, that the local authorities contribute £IOO to meet out-of-pocket expenses, that the aerodrome bo managed by a committee, with one representative from each local body, and that in the event of the management committee being legally constituted, the leases be transferred to it.
THE TE AROHA CLUB PROPOSAL FOR PAGEANT [from our own correspondent] TE AROHA, Friday The balance-sheet of the Te Arolia Aoro Club, presented at the annual meeting, showed net revenue for the year of £123. Accumulated funds totalled £227. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. R. Coulter; club captain, Mr. R. C, Willis; vice-captain, Mr. A. B. Ranby; secretary, Mr. C. Kingsley-Smith; treasurer, Mr. M. H. Hume; auditor, Mr. J. M. Cochrane executive, Messrs. N Wade. A. B. Ranby, B. L. Orr, R. J. Jones, R. B. Motherell, N Quirkc. There was a long discussion on the subject of holding a pageant and ball at an early date, and it was ultimately decided that a committee should go into the matter of arranging a visit by Auckland and Wellington pilots, with a ball in the evening.
