JAPANESE FIRE
LOSS AND INSURANCE DOMINION COMPANIES' SHARE (Received March 25, 5.5 p.m.) TOKIO, March 24 The statement is confirmed that tho Hakodate fire loss approaches £10,000,000. The insurance covers £3,000,000, of which about £1,200,000 is carried by foreign companies including about £.17,500 in New Zealand currency by the Now Zen land, auil the South British Companies.
Details of the insurances havo not yet been received at the head offices of the New Zealand and South British companies. Although it is stated that each company is carrying about £37,500 in New Zealand currency, the net loss will not amount to that figure owing to hear? re-insurances. STEAMER STRANDED FLEEING FROM THE PORT BRITISH CREW ALL SAFE (Received March 25. 11.45 p.m.) TOKIO. March 25 Salvagers are endeavouring to refloat the British cargo vessel Warcbrklgo (1100 tons) which was stranded at Hakodate while fleeing on the night of the great lire. The 45 members of the crew are safe.
