SILVER SCORN WINS

WARWICK FARM MEETING CHIPPING NORTON PLATE COURSE RECORD BROKEN ROGILLA'S FINE VICTORY (Received March 25. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 25 Tho Warwick Farm races were held yesterday. Following the discovery of a loaded plate at Moorefield on Wednesday, the feet of all horses competing were closely inspected before each race. This will be done at all meetings in future.

A feature of the meeting was the victory of the New Zealand-bred Silver Scorn in the.Chipping Norton Plate in the course record time of 2.4}. After Closing Time had led most of the way,' Silver Scorn won brilliantly, amid a hostile demonstration. Peter Jackson pulled up a trifje lame, but the trouble is not serious. Peter-Pan cut up badly. Limarch was fourth and finished-well.

Jlogilla registered an amazing per-' formance in winning tho Liverpool Han~ dicap; He was in an apparently hopeless position at the half-mile' post and, after appearing to have a slight chance at tho threo furlongs, finished brilliantly. It was the best' effort for a horse of his type, ns a comoback from racing over oup distances to sprinting, in tho memory of keenest racegoers. Persian ran a fair race.

Roxburgh was in a pockot at the turn in the Autumn Cup, but extricated himself to win well. The New Zeal/mder Colenso was unplaced in the first division of the Farm Novice Handicap. Gladswood lost all chance at the start of the Fairfield Handicap. Results:-

CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday The outside of the course proper and the No. 6 grass track were open for fast work yesterday, and a large number of candidates for the Great Easter and Great Autumn Handicaps provided some interesting galloping. On tho course proper Shatter was sent a mile alone, taking 1.45 2-5. the last seven furlongs being covered in 1.30 8-5 and the last half-mile in 52 3-ss. Shatter is very well.

Vintage attracted attention by galloping a mile in 1.41 1-5, the last half in 50a. He wan assisted homo by Holly Beggar and they finished on terms. This was a most impressive gallop, and showed that there is nothing now amiss with Vintage. On tho No. 6 grass the Masqueradcr, joined by Invoice at the five furlongs, ran seven furlongs in the good time of 1.36 3-5, the Inst three furlongs in 38s. He finished in front of the two-year-old, and although thiß truck is shorter than the others, the time was particularly good. Great Star easily accounted for Grand Review over seven furlongs in 1.29 4-6, tho last three taking 40s. Great Star has made '.gradual improvement of late and will have to bo respected at next week's meeting.
