COMPETITIONS ON SATURDAY MEDAL MATCH AT MIDDLEMORE A medal comjjetition was played by members of the Auckland Golf Club at Middlcmore on Saturday. Trophies were Riven to the winners in both the A and B grades. The course was very fast which, combined with an absence of wind, and the fact that the greens were in excellent order, mado conditions easy for scoring. Following were the best scores: A Grade.—E. Atllam, welcomed the large number of visitors, including representatives from the Auckland, Pukekohe and Papakurn Clubs. He said the prosoects for the season were very bricht, a record number of new members having been nominated. The first ball was driven by Mrs. Adlam. Mixed foursomes were played during the afternoon, the winners being Mrs. W. A. Pavitt and T. Currie. PUPUKE CLUB The Pupuke Golf Club held a most successful open day at the links on Saturday, when approximately 140 members and their friends were entertained by the president. Dr. P. Andrews, and Mrs. Andrews. The links were in good order and 96 players competed in a mixed Canadian foursomes competition. The winners were Mr. and Mrs. A. K. The president Dr. C. E. Howden. welcomed new members and declared the links open. Mixed foursomes over 12 holes were then played by the large number of golfers present. The fairways were in good order and the greens were fast. The winners of the match were Miss Austin and .7. M. Heise, who returned a card of 47 net.

HAMILTON CLUB [from our own correspondent! HAMILTON, Sunday The Hamilton Golf Club opened the season on St. Andrews links yesterday, when mixed foursomes were played with members of the ladies' club. The president. Mr. J. F. Strang, referred to the alterations which have been commenced and the improvements which are to be carried out during the winter. The club captain, Mr. G. H. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a sound position, with assets Tt £219 and no liabilities. The club had £llO invested and there were no outstanding subscriptions, a fact which was favourably commented upon. The annual report indicated that the club had experienced a very enjoyable and successful season. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. R. S. Garden; vice-president, Mr. H. WHAU VALLEY CLUB [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday The Whau Valley Golf Club held its official opening for the season yesterday afternoon in delightful weather, and in the presence of a large attendance. Visitors were present from the Whangarei and Maunsatapere Golf Clubs. The president. Mr. C. J. Haniblyn, welcomed the visitors and stated that the prospects for the present season were very bright. During the afternoon a mixed foursome over nine holes was played and was won by A. T. Martin and Mrs. Martin.
