TENNIS ON SUNDAY

Sir, —In - a report appearing in the Herald of Wednesday last, dealing with the decision of the Mount Eden Borough Council to permit tennis 011 Sunday, the following statement appears:— "The council also controls three courts used by the Mount Eden Methodist Sunday School." As the minister in charge of the Mount Eden Methodist Church and Sunday School, may I be permitted to say, in order to prevent any misunderstanding, that we are fh 110 way whatsoever connected as a Church or Sunday school with the courts where Sunday play is to be permitted, nor shall Ave haye anything whatever to do with such Sunday play. As a Church, we utter our strong protest against the action of the council in permitting the opening of these courts 011 Sunday, as we firmly believe such a course to be inimical to the higher interests ofjihe young people of our district. We feel that the matter is much too serious to rest where it is at pre* sent. ' Frederick J. Parker.
