WIRTHS' CIRCUS

There is a special fascination about a cix-cus which will prevent its ever being supplanted by mechanised amusement, for the whole atmosphere surrounding the entertainment is novel, and therefore the more enjoyable. Wirths' Circus, which has visited New Zealand over a long period, has established a reputation for presenting thoroughly entertaining programmes. The present company, which will commence a season of nine nights and six matineos at the Old Dock site on Monday, is no exception. Perhaps one of the most outstanding featuros is the excellence of the acrobatic acts. One of these, presented by the Seven Flying Nelsons, a group of skilful and daring gymnasts, is somewhat reminiscent of the act presented by the Flying Jordans some years ago. A thrilling display of aerial trapeze work is given by Aloys Peters, who specialises in a 75ft. dive with a rope round his neck. Equestrian acts figure largely on the programme, and Mr. Philip Wirth, jun., appears at the head of a number of talented ridors. There is a varied assortment of other items. Booking arrangements are advertised.
