STUD SHEEP VALUES

THE CANTERBURY FAIR CORRIEDALES TO 90 GUINEAS [BY TELEGRAPH —PBESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHUKCH, Friday The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's ram fair was concluded to-day, when stud sheep were sold. The entries totalled 279, 1 compared with 236 last year. All breeds came forward in excellent condition. Several North Island buyers and sellers were represented and there were many from outside Canterbury. Southdowns, which comprised the biggest section, sold the best, and the auction was steady all through at. satisfactory prices. The top price was 65 guineas, realised for a ram sold on account ( of Mr. H. J. Andrew (Maheno). English Leicesters, after a very dull sale for flocks, were in better demand, any sheep of quality selling reasonably well. Passings, however, were numerous. The top price was 40 guineas, for an entry on account of Mr. H. J. Andrew. Corriedales, after an excellent flock sale, I were expected to sell but the demand was disappointing. The quality was not as uniformly high as in the other main sections, but there were many splendid sleep. The top price was 90 guineas, for a ram on account of Mr. Hugh Ensor (Rakahuri). The other sections were small. The top prices and the vendors of the rams realising those prices were:—Lincolns, to 27£ guineas, Mr. W. Rayner (Masterton); Romneys, to 20J guineas, Messrs. W. R. Hunt and Son (Nelson); Shropshires, to 30 guineas, Mr. C. Parry (Salisbury); Borders, to 10 guineas, Colonel Findlay (Eiffelton); Merinos, to 27 guineas, Mr. R. C. Todhunter (Blackford).
