HOTELS IN! AUCKLAND FAVOURABLE POLICE REPORT "Most, of tho hotels seem to be well conducted, although the police report about several is only fair," commented Mi:. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., who presided at a meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Senior-Sergeant Flanagan reproae:oted tho police. The clerk, Mr. J. C. Malfroy, said thii> polbe report for the past quarter was generally favourable, and Mr. Wilson said it seemed the police were doing their duty in maintaining a fair supervis on. Where there had been breaches of the law, action was taken. As usual, there had been a number of convictions of persons found unlawfully on licensed premises. The following applications for transfer' oi: licences were granted: —Hotel Auckland, Queen Street, from Peter Scott Rumsay to Edward John Phelan; Riiiing £.un Hotel, Karangaliape Bo ad, from Frank Brown to James Pennington Batufi; Carpenters' Arms Hotel, Groy'.a Avenue, from Ernest Stanley Trainer to William Cleary.
