MAINLY FAIR WEATHER RAIN IN SOME PLACES The Government meteorologist i®. ported last evening as follows A series of westerly depiessions is crossing southern New Zealand, while pressure is rather high to the north. Indications are for westerly to north-westerly winds, moderate to strong generally, and in places reaching gale force. Sen:? rough on west coast and in. the Cock Strait and Foveaux Strait areas, elsewhere moderate to rather rough, Westerly winds may be expected in the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate in the northern portion, but elsewhere strong to gale force. Seas rather rough to rough. The weather will be mainly fair it eastern districts, otherwise unsettled, with rain at times, some heavy falls beiig likely on the west coast of the South Island, Temperatures mild.

YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Fine weather with a moderate south-west wind and cloudy sky was experienced yesterday. There was very little movement of the barometer. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.001n, Midnight, Mondaj .. .. 30.05 in. Wellington.—A strong north-westerly wind blew all yesterday and the weather was mostly cloudy, but there was some sunshine during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 68.3 degrees. * _ Christchurch.—The weather was fine but overcast yesterday. The barometer fell during the day and registered 29.55 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin. —A light easterly wind and fine weather prevailed yesterday following heavy rain on Monday night. Conditions were cloudy and vary mild. The maximum temperature was 60 degrees.
