LOWER PILOTAGE DUES
OIL COMPANY'S REQUEST DECLINED BY HARBOUR BOARD A -request that the Auckland Harbour Board should reconsider its recent alterations to pilotage rates to give relief to»oil tankers using the port was contained in a letter received by the board yesterday from the Shell Company of New Zealand, Limited. It was stated that oil tankers were of a tonnage only sligh'tly affected by the proposed reductions. "They are mostly foreign vessels and not entitled to consideration to the same extent as British ships," .said the chairman, Mr. T. B. Clay. "At any rate, wo have already dealt with the matter." : . , . Mr. C. G. Macincloe said the board had dealt with the matter, fciut the Marine Department had not. On the motion of the chairman, the company's request was declined. -
