THE REALM OF THE UNSEEN

Sir, —In an article in the "Scientific American'' on Einstein, the statement Mas made that probably only 12 men in the world understood the law of relativity—an. astounding notion., this —only 13 super-intellectuals on this planet, and the writer omitted to list them. Another mysterious theory, speculation or, may be, fact is the Fourth Dimension, which is often spelt with capital initial letters, as I have noticed. Is there a Fourth Dimension? If so, what is it? Is it mere speculation or a proved scientific fact? Beyond a vague reference to it in the mathematical section of encyclopaedias, there is no information, and university men I am acquainted with cannot enlighten me. Another mystery is "the music of the spheres." To many, this is just a poetic phrase, but I heard a lecturer of psychology affirm that the vast moving universe produces a music ethereal and beautiful beyond expression. Moreover, this music can sometimes be heard in a few —a very few —plaices on this earth, and one of these spots is in this country, in the Kawhia or Raglan area. The Fourth Dimension and the music of the spheres belonging, as they appear to do, to the realm of the unseen are intensely fascinating subjects. Can any advanced reader enlighten us further? K.H.
