TRAM GULLY ROAD
Sir, —Kindly give me space to refer to an item in the Herald of February 22. relative to Tram Gully Road, headed "Franklin Interests." It was stated that 18 settlers were guaranteeing .€4O toward shelling two miles of that road. There are about 28 resident ratepayers served by the present Tram Gully Roid, two-thirds of whom at least do not want money spent on it until a thorough investigation be made of an alternative route, a route that would serve the whole district richt through to Wattle Bay. It is better to investigate the position first, which, so far, the County Councd l.ad declined to do. Thjre has no cry for an all-weather road to Graham's Beach, the cry has bce:i an all-weather road to Orua Bay just for a very few settlors. The proposed new route would ser\e all residents of the districts 'concerned. as Tram Gully never can. no matter how much metal was put on it. it should not take a council years to make up its mind in a matter of this kinrl. Ratepayer.
