INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA The expectation of life for a male in« fant btVn in Australians 65 years, and for a female 68 years, according to thai Federal Health Department. 3n 1890 a male infant in Australia could expecii only 47 years, and a female 50. years. The senior medical officer, Dr. M. J< Holmes, says he considers that the in« creased expectancy of life is due ; .td many factors, including better working and living conditions, and preventive medicine, notably in connection with tuberculosis. The death rata 'from "T B." is little more than Jialf vrna* it was in Australia 20 years ago.
