CITY AND COUNTRY BRANCHES
Auckland. —meeting of the Auckland branch was hold in the Fanners' Trading Company's board-room last week. Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell presided, and two new members were welcomed, also a visiting member of the Invercargill branch. A message was received from the Dominion president, in which she stressed several points on which she considered the members should concentrate in the coming year. A letter was received from the Queensland Country Woman's Association, an organisation which works on similar lines to the Women's Division. The president reported having had an interview with Mrs. Hubert Fairfax, who was the founder of the movement in Queensland, and who recently visited Auckland.
Ngarua.—-At a meeting of the Ngarua branch of tlio Women's Division the president reported upon the recent provincial executive meeting, also upon the recent gathering of the Elstow Junior Division, at which the Dominion president gave an address. Arrangements were completed for the first anniversary party. Hostesses for tea wero Mrs. James, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Hayward. Te Awamutu. —A social afternoon was held by the To Awamutu branch of the Women's Division of the farmers Union, instead of the garden party j which had been planned, owing to unfavourable weather. Items were given by Miss Gladys Ryburn, Mrs. A. heifer, Mrs. Hartley Hall, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. F. H. Barnett. Competitions also were enjoyed and a "bring and buy'' stall in charge of Miss Eyre and Mrs. iseill did good business. To Rau-a-Moa.—There was an enthusiastic gathering of women to meet Mrs. Godfrey, Mrs. F. Ryburn and Miss Eyre (Te Awamutu) and Miss Marshall (Cambridge), representatives of the Women's Division, who were yisiting tho district with the object of forming a local branch. Mrs. F. Ryburn presided. Miss Marshall (South Auckland provincial president and South _ Auckland organiser), outlined the aims of the division and explained the working of tho visiting housekeeper and bush nurse schemes. Mrs. Godfrey, Mrs. Ryburn and Miss Eyre also spoke on division work. It was: decided to form a local branch, ancl the following ofnoers and committee were elected: — President, Mrs. E. Parkinson; vicepresidents, Mrs. Russell and M rs - Burns; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. S. E. Dasslcr; committee, Mesdames | Purser, Berntsen. Schwartfeger and Misses Randall (2). Tho local ladies provided afternoon tea, and the meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the visitors, who had also been successful in forming a branch of the division in Kawhia the previous day.
