SHIPMENT WORTH £139,600

The first shipment of new two shilling pieces for use in the Dominion arrived in Wellington by the Eangitiki this week. Sharp finish and attractive design are characteristics of the new coin. On the obverse side of the florin is the image of King George, while on the reverse is a representation of v the kiwi.
No time is being lost in distributing these coins, and the first of 'them went into circulation to-day. Th« Rangitiki's shipment is valued at £139,600. Of this quantity £65,00G worth are for Wellington and the remaining £74,600 worth for Auckland. Florins for Christchurch and Dunedin are on board the Hororata, which sailed from England on January 5. 'lhe Hororata's consignment is valued at £70,400, of which £35,900 will gu to Christchurch and £34,500 to'Dunedin.
Like the new half-crown and sixpence which are already in circulation, the florin has been made from quar'ternary alloy. The first of the shillings and threepences are on the water.
