ROSEBANK PARK FIXTURE DALE'S CONSISTENT RIDING About- 1500 spectators attended thei Ixion Motor-Cyclo Club's miniature tourist trophy races held at Rosebank Park, Avondale, on Saturday afternoon, Tho course, which has been prepared under a joint arrangement between the club, the City Council and the Auckland Patriotic Society, is constructed to approximate as nearly as possible to road conditions. The fixture was the first of its kind to be held in the Dominion, and further meetings will be held during the season. A feature of the racing was the consistent riding of J. Dale, who finished several lengths behind B. Bray in thesenior championship. L. McLaren annexed the junior title without any serious opposition, winning his heat, semifinal and final by comfortable margins. A. Mattson, the cinder track champion, was an entrant, but his riding was not up to the standard which won him his title on tho cinders.

The hair-pin bend in the middle of the circuit caused many of the competitors to lose time and the riclitangled bend on an uphill grade approaching the judging stand brought several of the riders down, while others ran wide into the gorse which lines the circuit at this point. Tho track was officially opened by Mr. J. C. Paterson, chairman of the Parks Committee of the City Council. The results were: — Ro3ebank Minor Championship. 4 laps, for side-valve machines of not more than 350 c.c. or overliead-valve machines under 340 c.c.—L. McLaren (350 c.c. A.J.S.), 1; E. Stuart (250 c.c. Ariel), 2; E. Hieatt (350 c.c. 8.5.A.), 3. Time, 5m 1 1-53. Junior Championship. 6 laps, for machines 350 c.c. or under.—First heat: L. Ward (A.J.S.), 1; C. "Wilson (New Hudson), 2. Time. 7m 56 1-sb. Second heat: L. McLareu (A.J.S.), 1; L. Moore (A.J.S.), 2. Time, 6m 45b. Final: L. McLaren (350 c.c. A.J.S.). 1; C. Wilson (350 New Hudson), 2. L._ Moor© (A.J.S.) the only other starter, retired in the fourth lap. Won easily. Time, 6m 46 3-ss.

Senior Championship. S laps, for machines of 500 c.c. or under.—First A. Bailer (Norton), 1; L. Nixon (8.5.A.), 2. Won easily Bailey made a good start, but fell and remounted again, taking the lead in the third lap. Timet. 9m 0 3-ss. Second/heat: B. Bray (Norton), 1; H. Tetley (Norton). 2. Bray held the lead throughout, both Tetley and Matthews having several falls. Matthewa was running second up to the fifth * lap, but was passed by Tetley after a fall. Time. 8m 53 4-ss. Third heat: J. Dale (Rudge), 1; A. Mattson (Norton), ; 2. Dale led at the etart and by good riding maintained the lead until passed by Mattoori in the fourth lap. Later a £all by Mattson gave Dale the lead again. ■ Time, 8m 59 4-ss. First semi-final: B. Bray (Norton), 1; J. Dale (Rudge), 2. Dale again rode splendidly, but was outgeneralled by Bray who shot ahead in the fifth lap. Time, 8m" 355. Second semi-final: A. Mattson '(Norton). 1; H. Tetley (Norton), 2. Tetley and Mattson rode in close company, Tetley making the most of a good start._ Mattson did not eain the lead until entering the last lap. Time, 8m 44 4-58. , J Final.—B. Bray (500 c.c. Norton), 1; J. Dale.(soo c.c. Norton). It: H. Tetley (500 .c.c. Norton), 3. Dale and Bray shot away together. Dale taking the lead. For several laps only a. few - feet separated the two riders, who out-distanced the rest of the field. In the last lap, when Dale looked a certain winner. Bray made a fine effort and gained the decision by a narrow margin. Tetley was well behind in third position. Mattson. who was also competing, was last away at the drop of tie flag and after two laps started to drop back, and finished almost a lap behind. Time, yfim 19 4-sfl.
