POSTAL BOX THEFTS
POLICE COURT REFERENCE P MEN CHARGED WITH FORGERY "If bail is granted, 1 ask that it should be very substantial," said De-tective-Sergeant McHugh in the Police Court on Saturday when Charles Ross, aged 30, described as an entertainer, was remanded to February 24 on a charge of forging the name of T. Price to a postal note for 20s. "Accused is charged with forgery, but I should point out that the particular document concerned had been stolen from a Post Office box," explained Mr. McHugh. "There has been an epidemic of such breaking into boxes." On the application of Mr. McLiver, who appeared for accused, bail was granted and was fixed at £4OO. "This is a similar case to the last," Mr. McHugh said, when Frederick John Taylor, aged 30, farmer, appeared on a charge of forging the name of S. Macky on a cheque. He also was remanded for a week.
